concerned about snow in their community also. you can see it right here. and it's important to point out that vdot says they have plenty of plows remaining. they are monitoring the weather to see what's going to happen tomorrow. live here in fairfax, news 4. >> veronica tells us when the next round of snow is going to come in. >> it comes in tomorrow afternoon. the low temperatures and icy conditions for the morning, in fact, overnight, one of our coldest nights in two years, well, yesterday was one of them, too. in damascus and clarksburg, 13 in leesburg. dropping to 17 degrees by tomorrow morning the next round of snow in our hour by hour forecast. snow is west, by 2:00 or 3:00 p.m., it starts to develop over the area. as we get into the latter part of the afternoon rush, the evening rush that snow will

about the victim of a deadly house fire in falls church. laura snyder gardner and her daughter died yesterday morning when the front part of their homes went up in flames. both were deaf. snyder-gardner taught math at gallaudet university. she also helped coach a soccer team. the fire's also killed the family's eight cats and two dogs. still no word on a cause tonight. >> police now say a 16-year-old murdered in prince george's county was the victim of gang sly lens. and two people are now you should arrest. marcus jones, seen in these photos, was gunned down outside a party in fort washington on saturday night. he was a sophomore at friendly high school. police say the shooting stemmed from a gang rivalry. and today, they arrested the suspected gunman and 19-year-old qwante fisher. they are still searching for a ni third suspect. tonight, a student is banned

from campus. we learned that brian hairston, a sophomore psychology major at the university of virginia made up a story of a gunman on the campus. he's charged with making a false report. police say he confessed while being questioned. >> you can't see it or smell it, but the outcome can be deadly. and tonight, a dog is credited with saving its owner from an invisible danger. erica gonzalez is live now from germantown with more on this incredible story. >> the woman in this home is staying with her mom tonight after a carbon monoxide scare. and she says e s she's got her little pooch to thank for saving her life. >> all i could keep thinking was i just need to get through this

call and tell them where to get me. >> she went to bed last night when kayla abruptly woke her opener. >> she ran up against me and was standing thering looing at me. >> something was wrong. >> i sort of fell on to the floor and then i realized, you know, my stomach is hurting i'm feeling nauseous. >> kristen called 911, firefighters arrived and got her and kayla out of the house. both had to be treated for carbon monoxide. where was it coming from? in the garage below, somebody had left their parked car inside running for several hours. so basically i was laying in a death trap. >> christy says she never heard a carbon monoxide detector go off. she says that's the first thing she went out to buy. >> one, i'm so appreciative that i'm alive and that she's alive.

and i feel so lucky that i can tell my family how much i love them. >> dpooo you have a carbon monoe detector in your home? that's the point christy says she really wants to get across. >> second massive crowd this week. the annual march for life rally kicked off at noon. thousands of anti-abortion demonstrators will march to the capital and the supreme court. this month marks the 40th anniversary of the rowe versus wade decision that legalized abortion. organizers expect this year's attendance to be even higher than that. and if you're near the mall, prepare for delays. several streets between constitution and closed for part protest. the closures start about 9:30 in the morning. all streets should be back open

by 6:30 tomorrow evening. >> the senate foreign relations committee is expected to vote to confirm john kerry as the next secretary of state. today he testified before his colleagues, promising to focus on economic issues, climate change and preventing iran from getting nuclear weapons. protesters shouted about people dying in the middle east and was removed by police. tonight, the top u.s. military officer believes that allowing women in combat could help solve one of the armed forces most serious problems. at the pentagon, chairman of the joint chiefs martin dempsey thinks this move will reduce sexual assaults. he claims the disparity in the gender roles in the military can lead to disrespect and violence against women. today, dempsey and defense secretary leon panetta signed an order opening up all combat roles for women. >> for us, i'm a 11 bravo, i'm a bang-bang, i go out there on the

front leans with the guys, it shows that we are equal. >> women already serve in many combat-related jobs but were banned from frontline positions. red light cameras appear to be doing their job. new research shows fewer tickets are going out and cash crashes are down. eight arlington intersections, four of them had red light cameras installed. the report finds violations dropped between 39 and 86% at intersections with the cameras. researchers say the most dangerous violations, running a red light a second after it's red, is also down. two planes clipped wings. a plane arriving from brussels this afternoon hit the wing of another plane that was parked. passengers exited the plane and

interrupted president obama today as he announced his nominees to head two federal agencies. >> i am not nating mary jo white to lead the security and exchange commission and richard cordray to continue leading the financial bureau. >> a fly landed right on the commander-in-chief's forehead. the president famously killed a fly during an interview with john harwood back in 2009. oh, it looks big when it's a still shot. and that was tat the white hous, too. second day of stingle digit rivers causing rivers to freeze in the boston area. check out the river in lawrence. despite the sunshine, it's completely frozen over with ice and snow. the low temperature today in the area, 1 degrees. the arctic blast made it feel like 5 below at times.

so we do know it could be worse. >> pretty dramatic. turning now to our weather, more snow is our way. veronica johnson breaks it down to tell us when it's going to arrive. >> not so much the size of the system that will be problematic, but the time the snows into the area. so starting about 2:00 p.m. tomorrow we're going to see the snow develop to the west. it will stay with us through the afternoon and into the evening and wrapping up around 10:00 p.m. tomorrow. it will be light and powdery on the roads tonight and tomorrow morning. it means the morning rush will be dry but again icy in some areas. the wind starting to drop. it will be fairly calm by tomorrow morning. at the bus stop 13 to 18

degrees, icy patches and still some possible delays down to our south with any of those roads that are still covered over. storm team 4 radar, look at that. nothing to show right now. i don't think it's going to be until we get till about noontime. this next system will start to move in. this will be the dominant system. all moving east, both producing some snowfall and even some wintry conditions down to our south. it's snow for us starting at 2:00. it's cold enough, unlike all of the other systems we had the early part of the winter. much like this last storm system, it will come through quickly. i do not think we're going to have any locations that pick up four or five inches of snowfall as was the case down towards the area of southern maryland this morning. we pick up around one, maybe two inches of snowfall in some locations. then it's cold, but we get the sunshine back over the weekend. and when we do, i do think that

the actual afternoon high may get above freezing. so let's talk about those snowfall totals then throughout the area. gaithersburg, montgomery county, leesbu leesburg, one to two inches of snowfall. and then some slightly higher amounts around calvert beach, lexington park. i don't think we're going to see any three, four, even five-inch totals out of this one unless you get into the high spots in the high ridges in northern west virginia. a few clouds. watch out for the icy patches, 13 to 18 degrees. the wind does pick up tomorrow afternoon. so with a high of 26 to 29 degrees, blistery cold wind chills back down to the teens with icy conditions on area roads. and then take a look at the next four days here. your chance of snow likely, yes, tomorrow. but then the warm-up. it's sunshine for the first part of the weekend. and again, very cold. 33 degrees, as we start out in the teens. 36 degrees, the high temperature

on sunday. under a partly sunny sky. as we get into the eely part of the week, 43 degrees your high temperature. then getting back to near average. the next time we get any storm system in here, whether it's big or small, it looks like we will be getting some rain, guys. those temperature s not a mistae for most of next week. we finally get out of this deep freeze with the most freezing temperatures we've had in six years. on wednesday close to 60. we're doing a bit of a flip flop. winter is going to take a break again. first we've got to get through tomorrow. coming up next in sports, the lockout is over.
